Hailing from the Ecuadorian Amazon rainforest, the Kichwa of Sarayaku brought a message of hope, peace and respect for nature to Paris. One sunny afternoon along the Seine river, following an Indigenous Press conference, the Kichwa celebrated with a traditional Kichwa dance where men play drums to the rhythm and movements of the womens’ long slithering hair. A beautiful vision! Members of the Kichwa tribe such as leader Patricia Gualinga and Felix Santi, President of Sarayaku were joined by North American indigenous activists such as Tom Goldtooth and Casey-Camp Horinek.
