The Dalai Lama visited Ladakh in India to conduct the special ceremonies for the creation of the beautiful Kalachakra sand mandala. Painstakingly made with sand, the multicoloured mandala is dedicated to individual and world peace. Once the creation of this intricate artwork and symbol is completed, as well as its accompanying ceremonies, the sand mandala is ritualistically destroyed.
