Documentary film explores the Amazonian plant medicine of ayahuasca and the West's growing interest

22 Jun 2019

Have you ever suffered from anxiety? Or depression? In 2013, British filmmaker Marc began research on a new project about the ancient and sacred Amazonian plant medicine, Ayahuasca. His new documentary feature film, “True Selfie”, currently in production, is a portrait of those who are choosing to detoxify their mind through Ayahuasca.

The film explores indigenous usage, neuroscience research and global drug policy around ayahuasca, at a time when more and more foreigners are flocking to the rainforest each year in search of ayahuasca. The documentary notably features male and female healers of the Shipibo tribe in the Peruvian Amazon, who maintain a strong tradition of plant medicine and shamanic practices.

Stay tuned for more news on this upcoming film!
