Absteigend by Evan Caminiti and Paul Clipson
Wandering in New York City - a film by Paul Clipson
17 Oct 2012
Absteigend (2012) a film by Paul Clipson. Music by Evan Caminiti. Black and white, 7mins.
This latest film is the musical and visual collaboration between American musician EVAN CAMINITI– one half of San Francisco’s desert drone duo Barn Owl, and Bay-area video artist PAUL CLIPSON. Filmed in New York city, Clipson explores the melancholic beauty and solitude of the industrial cityscape with a track from Evan Caminiti’s latest solo album Dreamless Sleep. Following Caminiti’s solo release of Night Dust earlier this year, Dreamless Sleep musically references ‘devotional hymns, Berlin-school epics, and cinematic westerns‘, creating dense and deep atmospheres through distorted guitars and experimentation with synthesisers. In a perpetual state of flux, Absteigend by Evan Caminiti evokes a sonic dream of transient beauty and emotion, shaping through darkness and light.
Dreamless Sleep by Evan Caminiti is released by Thrill Jockey Records and is now available here.
